Paints like oils, but they are non toxic, environmentally safe acrylics.

Slow the drying time down, 2 to 30 hours with our Global® Technique

Our trademark Global® formula.  This special formula increases the drying time of the paint from 20 minutes to several hours so you can do oil painting techniques.

Global® colors are a wonderful way to experience the high quality artistic pigments in the Heritage MultiMedia paint line.  Combine them with the soft fusion brushes and you can paint any oil technique without the solvents, smell and health issues.

Where did the name come from?

During the Golden Age of Dutch painting, the artists painted a technique which basically meant to paint the painting "Globally"... work the entire painting at the same time, while wet.  Now you can do that with our acrylic Global® Colors!

Global® colors are available in production sets of 6, 12, and 14 colors.  Click our online store to see color availability.

Make your own Global® Colors from our MultiMedia Acrylics!

You can make your own Global Colors by following these simple steps.

First lets understand the Global Color. Acrylics are made with water, and newer generation acrylics also contain other ingredients such as Retarders and Extenders.

Acrylics made in the last few years, such as Heritage are even more advanced. The Extenders used in Heritage are NOT the same as other paint companies Retarders and Extenders. So you cannot substitute other brands with Heritage, and Heritage will not work with other brands of paint!  Even if other artists say they do it, we do not advise mixing our products with other brands.

Making Global Color using the Global Palette

To make Global Colors, we need to evaporate some of the water from the paint, and replace it with our concentrated Extender Medium.

How long does it take?

That is a difficult question to answer, because evaporation is different is different parts of the country.  Generally 24 to 48 hours.  The longer you leave the color open to evaporate water, the longer the open time of the final paints.  You can achieve a 30 hour drying time if left open for 1 week.

How long can I store the Globals?

Generally if you paint every few days, just put the lid on the palette and that is enough.  If you are not going to paint for 1 week or 1 month, cover with press and seal before applying the lid.  Properly stored the self life is indefinite.  We have some Global Palettes that are perfect and 4 years old!

Step 1

Fill the desired well 1/2 to 3/4 full of with the desired color of paint.

Step 2

Add about 20% to 25% Heritage Extender.  No need to be perfect!  Close is ok!

Step 3

Mix the color and Extender very well.  This is important.  Mix until the paint is creamy.

Step 4

Let the color stand for 24 to 48 hours while water evaporates.  Stir the colors every 6 to 8 hours to help evaporation of water.

Step 5

To store colors for a long time, cover the palette with Press and Seal before putting on the lid of the Global Palette.

Step 6

For longer storage you can mist the lid of the Global Palette with distilled water.  Do not mist the paints.
